We Are Non Profit Organization

The Keta Ramsar Centre is a registered environmental Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Anyanui, in Ghana’s Volta Region. Established in 2014, the Centre was created in response to the alarming rise in poaching and environmental degradation.

Our mission is to safeguard Ghana’s tourism and fishing industries by protecting sea turtles, mangroves, manatees, and other aquatic species, along with their habitats within and around the Keta Lagoon Complex Ramsar Site.Through conservation, education, and community engagement, we work to ensure the long-term sustainability of our natural resources for future generations.

Volunteer Guidelines

At Keta Ramsar Center, volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. Whether you’re planting mangroves, protecting sea turtles, or supporting community projects, your contribution makes a real impact.
These guidelines help ensure a safe, respectful, and rewarding experience for everyone

Respect Nature and Communities

Our work depends on harmony with the environment and the people we serve. Treat wildlife, plants, and local communities with care and respect. Avoid disturbing nesting sites or cutting mangroves.

Be Punctual and Reliable

Each project runs on teamwork. Arrive on time for activities and let your team leader know in advance if you’ll be late or unable to attend. Consistency helps us protect more habitats efficiently.

Safety First

Always follow your supervisor’s safety instructions. Wear protective clothing when working in the field, use gloves for planting or clean-ups, and stay hydrated. Report any accidents immediately.

Learn and Ask Questions

We love curiosity! Take every opportunity to learn from coordinators, scientists, and community members. If you’re unsure about something, ask — we’re here to guide you.

Work as a Team

Volunteering is about collaboration. Support your teammates, share tasks fairly, and communicate kindly. Together, we achieve more for nature and people.

Represent the Organization Positively

You are an ambassador for the Keta Ramsar Center. Maintain respectful behavior, avoid offensive language, and uphold our mission wherever you volunteer.

Capture Memories Responsibly

Photos and videos are welcome — but please avoid disturbing wildlife or photographing sensitive locations without permission. Tag us when sharing online to inspire others!

Stay Committed to the Cause

Every seed planted, every turtle saved, every conversation held — it all matters. Stay engaged, share your experience, and help spread awareness even after your volunteering ends.

Thank You for Being a Change-Maker!

Your hands and heart help restore the coasts, protect wildlife, and empower communities. Together, we make conservation come alive.
